More than one hundred and twenty years welcoming travellers
A welcoming home from the very start
In the heart of Hostalets de Bas, our story begins in 1905, when the house was built beside the old "Camí Ral", the historic 'Royal Road' that connected Olot and Vic. Back then, journeys were made on foot or with animals, and many travellers found here a place to rest before carrying on. Can Calet was born as a small inn, a house open to travellers where they could share a meal, a conversation and the warmth of the hearth. From the very beginning, this has been a house of hospitality.
The origin of a name
A house of work, effort and life
In small village houses, names often tell stories that go far beyond surnames. The name Can Calet comes from one of the earliest owners of the house, Miquel. Over the years, as is common in local tradition, his name was affectionately shortened: from Miquel to Quel, and from Quel to Calet. That is how the name we still use today came into being.
But the story does not end there. Generation after generation, the family's heir has continued to bear the same name, Miquel, keeping alive a tradition that has passed from parents to children for more than a century. Today, this story continues with Miquel Font, the current owner of Can Calet, who together with his wife Núria has led the restoration of the house with one clear goal: to preserve its essence and share it with everyone who visits.

Can Calet has been an inn, a butcher's, a grocery, a workshop, a family home and a meeting place for many generations. Today it begins a new chapter as four holiday apartments, while keeping intact the values that have always defined it: hospitality, hard work, closeness, respect for the land and love for people. More than one hundred and twenty years after the first travellers spent a night here, this house continues to do what it does best: open its doors and welcome people.
